The ILUCIDARE Playground is back with a special edition in Kosovo in collaboration with our partner Cultural Heritage without Borders. For this local chapter, the event comes together with a Conference on cross-border heritage between Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo.
ILUCIDARE Playground: Guralec, moving rocks
We have curated a two days programme digging into cultural heritage-led innovation and international relations inviting professionals and organisations to share their experience and imagine new ways to cooperate in a post-pandemic context. Kosovo, and the Western Balkans are full of potential for heritage-led innovation: how to tap into this resource, how to mobilise local initiatives from cultural entrepreneurs, NGOs, citizens and academia? Cultural heritage as the ability to connect and reconcile, building bridges between communities but it can sometimes become a slippery slope with political and diplomatic implications. How to navigate this duality and make the best of heritage resources for regional and international cooperation? These are the questions that we will address with our guests speakers.
Join us for showcases of local initiatives and site visits!
The event will take place in English with simultaneous Albanian translation. The plenary sessions will be available online in English.
Conference: Beyond walls and beliefs
The Playground will be followed by a conference on 20th and 21st October including a practical workshop with professionals to discuss and progress world heritage serial nomination of kullas, vernacular fortified buildings.
This event is an opportunity for the ILUCIDARE network and its partner Cultural Heritage without Borders – Kosovo to take stock and share two years of capacity building in the Western Balkans, focusing on heritage-led innovation through mapping tangible and intangible heritage values as well as to explore the potential for heritage-led innovation and international relations in the region.
